Overview: Who We Are & What We Do
Mourning Ventures of Maine exists to reduce unnecessary stress and suffering during life’s most difficult transitions. We provide compassionate, personalized support in times of grief, loss, and uncertainty—and help people prepare for the future with greater clarity, care, and peace of mind.
We serve a growing need in Maine: the need for high-quality, structured, non-clinical support that bridges the gap between informal peer support and formal mental health care. Grief, dying, and planning for our future needs are deeply human experiences, yet many people feel alone, unprepared, or unsure where to turn. Mourning Ventures fills that space—offering guidance that is grounded, deeply informed, and centered on real-life needs.
We support individuals, groups, communities, and workplaces across the state through a combination of grief care, advance planning services, and educational outreach.
Holistic Grief Care
We provide meaningful support for those navigating grief, loss, and transition—whether related to death, illness, caregiving, aging, or other significant life events. Our services are deeply therapeutic in nature, helping clients process what they’re carrying and find their way forward, at their own pace. Support is available one-on-one, in small groups, or through community-based events.
